Essential oils (EOs) are blends of substances that exert multiple effects on our body and can be used to enhance our well-being. Their uses range from the treatment of certain ailments to cosmetics and sometimes culinary uses.
E.O.s are obtained from the distillation of the flowers and leaves of plants that contain numerous active ingredients that are concentrated in the oil. Choosing the plants to distill and properly using the essential oil obtained from them requires considerable experience and professional expertise.
For this reason, La Sabatinaccia (whose experience had until now been limited to the distillation of the helichrysum grown on the farm) has begun a collaboration with Silvia and Barbara, two passionate naturopaths who have developed a deep knowledge of the world of aromatic herbs and have created Le Socette, a brand dedicated to promoting the spread of aromatherapy and, more generally, knowledge of the properties of herbs. In collaboration with Silvia and Barbara, we have expanded the range of distillations, harvesting wild herbs that Elba is particularly generous with. This year, for example, we have produced essential oils from wild carrot, wild fennel and viscous inula, and we plan to test in the near future rosemary, myrtle, mastic tree and other native plants of the island.
